T.L.C. Plus and Other Titan Mixes

What do you get when you combine Titan genetics with other species, like Kentucky Bluegrass and Perennial Ryegrass? Great mixes, of course! Titan Ltd., Titan Rx, and Titan Ultra all have that special “Titanness”, and while fantastic on their own, they aren’t the ONLY answer to different grass applications.

Why a Mixture?

Most of the time, our Titan varieties, either straight or in our T.L.C Blend perform exceptionally well. But some applications have needs that are best met by adding the great features of other species, or types of grass (such as perennial ryegrass or Kentucky bluegrass.) For example, sometimes northern athletic fields and sod farms need even more density and tensile strength that no tall fescue can provide, but can only be found with Kentucky bluegrass. Other applications need lightning-quick establishment assistance found only in perennial ryegrass. These are just two examples of the many applications where you might find the Titan genetics hard at work.

Why T.L.C. Plus?

Tall fescue/bluegrass mixture are predominately comprised of tall fescue. And what better tall fescues to use than the Titan genetics found in T.L.C.? The Titan fescues are perfect for most application where a fescue/bluegrass mixture are desired: deep roots, self-repairing rhizomes, natural insect resistance, heat tolerance, disease resistance, and more! This formula will be able to access water and nutrients at a deep level and be able to take the pressures of sun, shade, and heat, while still looking great. The Kentucky bluegrass component adds additional rhizome activity to provide a quicker recovery.

Two Titan Mixtures: T.L.C Plus and Dryspell Plus

T.L.C. Plus

Kentucky bluegrass is known for its ability to net lawns together – to “sod” plants in and create a bit of cushion or thatch. Many times this type of surface is preferred in athletic situations, like a soccer field. But growing Kentucky bluegrass by itself can be more demanding, especially as it relates to fertilization and water. That’s why we developed T.L.C. Plus tall fescue/bluegrass mixture. T.L.C. Plus is mostly composted of our T.L.C. fescues with Titan genetics PLUS a small percentage of Kentucky bluegrass. This formula will be able to access water and nutrients at a deep level and be able to take the pressures of sun, shade, and heat, while still looking great. The Kentucky bluegrass component adds additional rhizome activity to provide a quicker recovery. In selected regions, T.L.C. Plus includes a heat-tolerant Kentucky Bluegrasses, like Thermal Blue. T.L.C. Plus is ideal for athletic fields, sod production, and other application where extra wear tolerance is needed.

DrySpell Plus™

DrySpell PLUS™ is also primarily composed of our T.L.C. fescues with Titan genetics PLUS a small percentage of our Nexus XR perennial ryegrass. These provide great looking turf with richer color, and better disease resistance due to the diversity of the genetics. By including Nexus XR perennial ryegrass, DrySpell PLUS™ establishes quickly, preventing erosion and soil runoff while helping create a lush dense lawn. DrySpell Plus is also endophyte enhanced to provide a natural barrier to invading pests.
